For over two decades, Maryland-born musician George Ellsworth has been a staple of the Northern Minnesota music scene wearing many hats and spreading his experiences and influences far and wide. As an in-demand bassist and keyboardist he’s performed and recorded with a myriad of beloved Twin Ports acts, from James And Younger to The Brushstrokes to Todd Eckart to Snöbarn to Woodblind. As a songwriter and composer he’s contributed songs and scores to two independent films and works for local theater. He revels in finding the common and complementary elements of disparate genres and musical disciplines and building something unique and interesting from what lies at the meeting point.

Sophie Hiroko's self-titled full band project has been expanding to include local musicians, Ned Netzel, George Ellsworth, and Leif Hinkle - bringing her songs into a whole new dimension. Sophie’s deeply introspective lyrics reflect the joyful and painful truths of life. Sophie's slightly distorted guitar sound is paired with George, Ned, and Leif's grungy, funky, upbeat magic - the output is a thoughtful, yet danceable vibe!

At a time when the world seems intent on pushing us further inward and further apart, Kiss the Tiger are here to rattle our bones and bust us out of our cocoons with some good old fashioned rock and roll.

Fronted by the magnetic and disarming Meghan Kreidler, who draws on her background in theater to break the fourth wall between audience and band with her righteous fist pumps and high kicks, this is a band that doesn’t just play. They combust. And watching them set the stage ablaze, it’s hard not to feel that tension that’s been built up in all of us these past few years slowly release, too, like a collective exhale set to ratcheting guitars, buoyant bass lines and Kreidler’s perfectly pitched screams. Theirs is a clean-burning fire. Hell, you might even call it healing.

“We want to give the audience an experience that is visceral and jolts them awake—creating community in that moment,” Kreidler notes. “I think that’s a really nice gift you can give people: Just let go.”

With Beck Fulin (Trumpet) and Devon Defoe (Saxophone), they add all the sweet and sultry horn lines that we could need. Our rhythm section consists of Marshall Dillon on Guitar, Luke Torrent on Drums, and Taylor Shykes on Bass. We’re here to play, and you should be too. 😉

Fronted by vocalists Jenna Harting and Lisa Wentworth, Mid Dream cranks out upbeat pop-punky anthems, soul searching ballads, and some things decidedly neither. With Rachel Riefenberg on drums, Matt Prois on bass, Alex Nelson on keys, and Bryan Wentworth toeing the line between lead guitar and synthscape, their tunes are filled with compelling textures and powerful harmonies. In early 2024, songwriters Jenna, Rachel, Bryan, and Lisa (who also picks up rhythm guitar) started jamming in the Wentworth family basement. In the summer, Alex answered a cryptic invitation and joined them. Matt wasn’t far behind. Get ready for your new favorite band!

Hold my beer...K&B Grill Cheese is Here!

The Duluth News Tribune said it best - "This truck, the shape and color of a cut of sharp cheddar, takes the comfort food classic and swaps out Wonder Bread in favor of a homemade loaf. Kevin White, who owns the truck with his partner Breanna Emond, estimates that he makes 40-50 loaves of Italian bread per week.

The menu changes occasionally, and sandwiches range from traditional-ish (four cheese grilled cheese), to traditional-ish with protein, (buffalo chicken grilled cheese), to the ultimate in nuevo grilled cheese flavors (spinach artichoke)."
