Ross Thorn's poignant lyricism joins with a few good buddies to open for Bloodroots!

With a pastoral upbringing in northern Wisconsin, Ross Thorn’s music emanates as a warm and soulful hymn, waking up optimistically beside a snow-covered window. His sharply crafted and often humorous lyrics—distinctly reminiscent of great folk artists like John Prine—reveal internal struggles of empathy, questions of human character and virtue, and a search for hope, often finding solace in some unanticipated truth. Ross' second album "Fitting In", released in 2025, showcases fine-tuned songwriting through traditional and contemporary folk tunes that explore the humorous and somber sides of the human condition.

Bloodroots is a folk and americana trio based in Madison, WI. Marin Danz, Rianna Marie, and Eva Paddock bonded over a shared love of female songwriters and began playing and writing together in the fall of 2025. Bloodroots' namesake, a white petalled flower with red bleeding roots, felt parallel to their writing - pure, hard-edged, and threaded with nature's beauty. The Thomas Woytko Collective is a an upbeat horn group rooted in jazz led by trombonist and arranger Thomas Woytko. The group began with the horn section posting covers online and then eventually flourished to the full ensemble. The group is inspired and replicates bands like The Huntertones, Couch, Lawrence, and Snarky Puppy.

Big Wave Dave and the Ripples is an 8 piece funk and soul band with a full horn section that began by bringing the funk to Duluth every week for over two years on Thursday nights at the Rex. Since then the band has moved on from a weekly engagement and has played a variety of other events such as Duluth Homegrown Music Festival, Fourth Fest at Bayfront Park, All Pints North Brew Fest, a UMD's Homecoming Halftime Show, as a featured performer with the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra and a variety of local Duluth area festivals, clubs, and events. The band plays a mix of their favorite soul and funk tunes from other artists and original material. The Duluth News Tribune said it best - "This truck, the shape and color of a cut of sharp cheddar, takes the comfort food classic and swaps out Wonder Bread in favor of a homemade loaf. Kevin White, who owns the truck with his partner Breanna Emond, estimates that he makes 40-50 loaves of Italian bread per week.

The menu changes occasionally, and sandwiches range from traditional-ish (four cheese grilled cheese), to traditional-ish with protein, (buffalo chicken grilled cheese), to the ultimate in nuevo grilled cheese flavors (spinach artichoke)."

Rev your engines, racers! D-Town Driftway is Duluth’s premiere Mario Kart 8 live band, and we want to put you in the driver’s seat. You race your friends in a head-to-head competition, while we play all the Mario Kart OST Hits! Sunshine Airport, Rainbow Road, everything your heart could desire.

With Beck Fulin (Trumpet) and Devon Defoe (Saxophone), they add all the sweet and sultry horn lines that we could need. Our rhythm section consists of Marshall Dillon on Guitar, Luke Torrent on Drums, and Taylor Shykes on Bass. We’re here to play, and you should be too. ;)
