Josie is a singer-songwriter from Barnum Minnesota who loves to frequent Duluth. Whether that’s joining Grant Glad in a closet to discuss music for his podcast, singing at Wussow’s open mic on Wednesday's, or just going to Goodwill. Chances are she’s on that hill somewhere. Josie writes stories about screwing up, never leaving your home town, and dying as she pulls from influences such as Adrienne Lenker, Odie Leigh, and Daffo. Her folky rhythms and honest lyrics will really make you listen.

Josie will be joined by special guests on box drum and keys for this set.

In the last 20-plus years, singer-songwriter Eldri Snow has gone from being a self-proclaimed Twin Ports music groupie to writing and performing her own songs and hosting the Eldri Snow Variety Show. A soulful, down-to-earth folk singer, Snow is inspired by greats like Nanci Griffith and Gillian Welch and local favorites like Feeding Leroy. She serves as co-director of the Great Northern Squash Festival in Chaffey, WI.

Calvin Caron is a Bassist and Composer working out of the Twin Cities of Minnesota. Calvin has performed as a sideman with a variety of musicians who are staples of the Twin Cities jazz scene. Calvin has a respect for the tradition of jazz while simultaneously looking forward musically, he has a voice in composition where he attempts to keep the music honest.

Come meet the good folks of Mentor North and learn more about how they are connecting community. If mentoring seems like a good fit for you, they will also be signing potential mentors up on-site.

What's March Into Mentoring: During March, Mentor North is asking community members to nominate caring adults who can spend four hours per month, for at least one year, mentoring a Twin Ports youth. Mentoring offers volunteers the opportunity to connect with others, enjoy new activities, learn alongside other mentors, and actively contribute to a more inclusive, equitable community.

It started as a jam session in 1995 in a now burnt-out St. Paul hole-in-the-wall bar. Over 20 years later, the Urban Hillbilly Quartet has grown into an award-winning Twin Cities-based ensemble that delivers an eclectic mix of musical styles, blending electric guitar, piano, accordion, bass and drums. On stage, the Hillbillies perform mainly original material--most of which can be found on their nine albums. Their most recent recording South of Dark was released in 2018.

Their music has been influenced by: Midwest powerhouses The Jayhawks and Uncle Tupelo; UK’s The Waterboys; Canada’s Bruce Cockburn; and folk/jazz star David Grisman. UHQ has been compared to R.E.M., The Grateful Dead, and 16 Horsepower.

The core of the band is Erik Brandt (guitar, accordion, piano, lead vocals), Jeremy Szopinski (electric guitar), Dave Strahan (electric guitar), Mike Schultz (bass), Celeste Kiewel, and Jim Orvis (drums) who have been performing together in the UHQ all over the United States and overseas.

Composed of Sophie Hiroko on vocals, Kyle Barden on guitar, Swerty on bass, and Al Panchyshyn on drums, C U Next Tuesday pairs traditional punk rock with powerful feminist lyrics. Audiences are guaranteed an energetic, entertaining, and empowering performance.

snakeworld! is defiantly fun, bringing twee pop back to punk. The Minneapolis-based band's dual vocalists often sing at the same time, weaving their different lyrical styles together to sing catchy songs about joy, modern dread, and identity.

Kailyn Pelerin (Breanne Marie & The Front Porch Sinners) joins Iron Range singer-songwriter Paul Lawrence to create a powerful and soulful duo. Paul has performed his original folk-country-blues on stages from Minneapolis to Taipei. Ranging from folk and country ballads to bluesy boot-stompers, Kailyn & Paul deliver exceptional vocals, precise playing and memorable lyrics.
